Hello. Hola. Salam. I am Sarah, and I am so happy you stopped by. I am an international educator currently living and teaching ESOL at a US-curriculum school in Guatemala, wife to an amazing Persian, and mama to a preschool age son who we are raising trilingually - English, Persian, and Spanish. Here, you’ll find me blogging about teaching, raising a multilingual and multicultural child, and travel.

Originally from the Midwest (I grew up in South Dakota and studied in Minnesota), I have always had an interest in language learning and exploring different cultures. While studying elementary education with concentrations in Spanish and Special Education at Minnesota State University at Moorhead, I jumped at the opportunity to complete my practicums abroad in Spain. While in Madrid, I realized that international teaching was for me. I returned to the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis to complete my English as a Second Language license as well as a Masters in Second Languages and Cultures Education. It was a pretty amazing feat considering I completed it during my first and second year of teaching 4th grade in a suburban Minneapolis school. Then, I was off to my first overseas school.
Fast forward 17 years, and I am still abroad. I have taught 4th, 5th, and ESOL while experiencing life in Taiwan, Guatemala, and Paraguay.
I am passionate about learning languages, global citizenship, using great books as a tool to develop language, creating educational resources which excite my students while building language skills, spending time with my husband and son, kayaking, baking, and generally experiencing life wherever I have landed on the globe.
